WordPress database error: error in you SQL syntax

Hiya,

I seem to be getting a lot of these errors in my WordPress error_log file.

[21-Jul-2013 18:06:25 UTC] WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘”locale” VARCHAR( 10 ) NULL’ at line 1 for query ALTER TABLE wp_wpsc_haet_purchase_details ADD “locale” VARCHAR( 10 ) NULL made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), require_once(‘wp-load.php’), require_once(‘wp-config.php’), require_once(‘wp-settings.php’), do_action(‘plugins_loaded’), call_user_func_array, HaetShopStyling->createTables

My WordPress version is 3.5.1.

My server specs are:

Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
Software: MySQL
Software version: 5.5.32-cll – MySQL Community Server (GPL)
Protocol version: 10
Server charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
Web server

cpsrvd 11.38.1.15
Database client version: libmysql – 5.0.96
PHP extension: mysql

Is there any other information you need to investigate this issue? Is there some way I can fix this for my install?

Hi Liz,
I don’t know much about configuring database servers, but I couldn’t regenerate this error message on my test servers.
Is it possibe to get FTP and DB access to your Server?

Actually, I figured it out. on line 980 of class-haetshopstyling.php you have:
$wpdb->query(‘ALTER TABLE '.HAET_TABLE_PURCHASE_DETAILS.' ADD “locale” VARCHAR( 10 ) NULL ‘);

if you remove the double space after alter table it fixes the error

$wpdb->query(‘ALTER TABLE '.HAET_TABLE_PURCHASE_DETAILS.' ADD “locale” VARCHAR( 10 ) NULL ‘);

Sorry, that was incorrect. query needs to change to
$wpdb->query(‘ALTER TABLE '.HAET_TABLE_PURCHASE_DETAILS.' ADD locale VARCHAR(10) NULL’);
